On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Angelo State University Rambelles basketball team defeated the Texas A&M International University Dustdevils 95-74 at home, for an overall standing of 6-3.

The game's first quarter started in ASU's favor with a three-pointer by senior guard Sawyer Lloyd, followed by a jump shot. The Dustdevils would close the Rambelles’ five-point lead with a three-pointer and a layup in the second minute. Following a layup by the Dustdevils was a jump shot and layup by Lloyd, a layup by senior forward Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant and a layup by sophomore center Keniah Williams, ASU leading 13-7 by the fifth minute. Shortly after a layup from the Dustdevils, Williams would get a layup for ASU. TAMIU would score two more layups by the seventh minute, with Lloyd getting a jump shot in between. With TAMIU receiving and scoring a free throw, Lloyd immediately followed up with a layup; however, the Dustdevils would return the favor with a layup of their own. The Dustdevils took the lead with two free throws and a layup; however, it would be short-lived as a three-pointer from McGhee-Pleasant would place ASU back on top with a 22-20 score, ending the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Dustdevils start it with a free throw. The ensuing few minutes saw ASU widen their lead to 31-21 with a jump shot, two layups by McGhee-Pleasant and a layup by Williams. After a three-pointer from TAMIU, freshman guard Madi Lumsden would score two free throws, followed by two layups by the Dustdevils. The 17th minute saw junior guard Madisen Honea lock in a three-pointer, leading 36-28. After two free throws by the Dustdevils, Rambelle sophomore guard Briley Merket scored a three-pointer. The remainder of the second quarter saw four free throws by the Dustdevils, along with a jump shot by McGhee-Pleasant and a layup by Lloyd. The second quarter would end with the Rambelles leading 43-34.

The third quarter saw a great start by the Rambelles with a layup by Lloyd and a layup and two free throws by junior forward Madeline Stephens. After a free throw and layup from the Dustdevils, McGhee-Pleasant would score another three-pointer for ASU, leading 52-37. The third minute saw TAMIU score two free throws, followed by a free throw by Williams. ASU's lead would increase via a jump shot by McGhee-Pleasant and a layup by Lloyd. Williams would score a layup shortly after two layups from the Dustdevils in the sixth minute. The following few minutes saw a jump shot and two layups by Stephens, a free throw and two layups by Williams and two layups from the TAMIU for a score of 70-48. The remaining minute saw two free throws and a layup from the Dustdevils and two layups by McGhee-Pleasant, ending the third quarter with ASU leading 75-52.

The last quarter started with a three-pointer from a Dustdevil, followed by two free throws by McGhee-Pleasant. The third minute had McGhee-Pleasant receive and score two free throws, followed by a layup from the Dustdevils. TAMIU would score a layup and three-pointer, with Lloyd getting a layup within then for ASU. After scoring two free throws in the sixth minute, Stephens would get a jump shot in after a layup from the Dustdevils. Sophomore forwards Alexandra Bednarczyk and Aicha Ndir would get two layups following three free throws by the Dustdevils. The remaining two minutes saw two free throws and a three-pointer from the Dustdevils; meanwhile, two layups from the Rambelles scored by Ndir and Bednarzyck, ending the game as a 95-74 win for ASU.

With their victory against the Dustdevils, the Rambelles now prepare to take on the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions in a home game on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
